A transmitter was placed on a microlight aircraft to determine the flight range of the Icare2 GPS tracker for model aircraft and drones.
This experiment was conducted in the field in Viabon, in Eure et Loir, in June 2016.
The Icare2 transmitter was taped (see photo opposite) to the microlight’s radio antenna.
The microlight flew at an approximate altitude of 80 metres and covered a circuit with a radius of 20 kilometres around Viabon. The Icare2 receiver recorded the entire flight track.
The flight range of the Icare2 system is therefore greater than 20 kilometres.
A big thank you to Alexandre PATTE for conducting these tests.
